About the Author
Sandra N. Elbaum was an ESL Instructor at Truman College, one of the City Colleges of Chicago, for thirty-six years. She has also taught in elementary and high schools, and in Mexico, Puerto Rico, the former Soviet Union, and Slovakia. Sandy is the author of the popular series Grammar in Context, now in its Fifth Edition. Sandy received her B.A. in Spanish and M.A. in Teaching English as a Second Language from the University of Illinois.

Not what I was looking for

I don't know if I didn't read the description well enough, but this 'Basic' book isn't basic enough. The introductory conversations are long with a ton of vocabulary that puts a lot of stress on the learner. The exercises are generic and standard, which is fine, and the grammar tables do a nice job as always, but this book was not meant for a beginning student. The book seems better fit for a student who already knows some English but needs to improve gramatically.
