This time last year I was a brand new school board member thinking I knew it all. I like to be thorough, so I bought How NOT to be a Terrible School Board Member just to be sure I was doing things correctly. I wasn't. It's a whole different world from the inside and this book, written by a former school board member, gives real-life examples of the kinds of mistakes well-intentioned school board members make. It was a valuable read that I have kept on my Kindle carousel for quick resource. It is a quick read and its use of humor and non-educationalese makes it very worthwhile. Buy it!
